Trisdešimt metų Lietuvos politinių kalinių ir tremtinių Vilniaus skyriaus gyvenime – tai ne tik datos ar sukaktys. Tai žmonių viltys, sprendimai, idėjos, išbandymai ir pergalės, sugulusios į bendrą Skyriaus istoriją. Šis METRAŠTIS – tai pasakojimas ne tik apie kelią, kuriuo šiandien einame kartu, apie vertybes, kurios mums padėjo išgyventi tremčių ir kalinimų vietose, bet ir apie bendrystę, kuri mus telkia prisimenant istorinę atmintį.

Per tris dešimtmečius Skyrius augo, keitėsi… Būta lemiamų sociokultūrinių lūžio laikotarpių ar pakilimo momentų. Tačiau Skyrius ir jo žmonės prisitaikė, atlaikė sudėtingus evoliucijos laikotarpius ir drąsiai žygiuoja naujų galimybių link. Kiekvienas Skyriaus raidos etapas turėjo savo veidą: nuo entuziastingų pradžių iki brandžios, patikimos ir atsakingos veiklos šiandien – ne tik valstybės, bet ir tarptautiniu lygmeniu.

Taigi šis pasakojimas pirmiausia yra apie mūsų bendruomenės žmones ir pirmiausiai mūsų šviesulį Balį Gajauską, tremčių ir kalinimų kankinį, Lietuvos politinių kalinių ir tremtinių sąjungos pirmąjį prezidentą, Lietuvos nepriklausomybės akto signatarą, Vyčio Kryžiaus ordino Komandoro didžiojo kryžiaus kavalierių, kurį šimtmečio proga ne tik prisimename, bet ir 2026-uosius metus Lietuvoje pažymime.

Mums, jaunesnės kartos atstovams, garbė būti šalia tų, kurie kūrė Skyriaus pamatus, kurie dirbo kasdienius darbus, kurie tikėjo vizija net ir tada, kai aplinkybės nebuvo palankios. Be jų indėlio šiandien neturėtume nei patirties, nei pasiekimų, kuriais galime didžiuotis, nei ateities. Garbė mūsų laisvės kovų dalyviams.

Šis METRAŠTIS – tai ne tik faktų rinkinys. Tai ir padėka visiems, kurie savo darbu, idėjomis ir pasitikėjimu prisidėjo prie organizacijos kelionės. Tai ir įsipareigojimas ateičiai: puoselėti vertybes, išlaikyti profesionalumą ir drąsiai žvelgti į naujus iššūkius.

Tegul šie puslapiai primena, kad stipri organizacija gimsta iš bendrystės, o tikra sėkmė – iš nuoseklaus ir prasmingo darbo. Trisdešimt metų – tai gražus stabtelėjimas, tačiau mūsų istorija tęsiasi…

The history of the Vilnius branch of Lithuanian political prisoners and deportees over the past thirty years is about more than just dates and anniversaries. It is about the hopes, decisions, ideas, trials and victories of the people involved, woven together into the branch’s shared history. This annual report tells the story of the path we are walking together today and the values that helped us survive exile and imprisonment. It also tells the story of what unites us in remembering our history.

Over three decades, the branch has grown and changed. There have been decisive socio-cultural turning points and moments of upheaval. However, the Chapter and its people have adapted and weathered difficult periods of evolution to boldly march towards new opportunities. Each stage of the chapter’s development has had its own character, from the initial enthusiasm to the current mature, reliable and responsible activities, which are not only carried out at a national level, but also internationally Above all, this story is about the people of our community, and our guiding light, Balys Gajauskas: a victim of deportation and imprisonment; the first president of the Lithuanian Political Prisoners and deportees Union; a signatory of the Act of Independence of Lithuania; and Commander Grand Cross of the Order of the Cross of Vytis. We are remembering him on the centenary of his birth and marking the year 2026 in Lithuania.

As the younger generation, we are honoured to stand alongside those who laid the foundations of the department, did their daily work and believed in the vision, even when circumstances were unfavourable. Without their contribution, we would have neither the experience nor the achievements that we can be proud of today, nor a future. We honour those who fought for our freedom.

This annual report is not just a collection of facts. It is also a thank you to all those who contributed to the organisation’s journey through their work, ideas and trust. It is also a commitment to the future: to cherish our values, maintain our professionalism and face new challenges with confidence. May these pages serve as a reminder that a strong organisation is born of unity and that true success comes from consistent, meaningful work. Thirty years is a significant milestone, but our story continues…
